News: Drive against illegal structures, colonies in Gurgaon-08-01-2021
Gurgaon: To check mushrooming of illegal colonies and prevent unauthorised construction, the department of town and country planning (DTCP) has decided to carry out at least 10 demolition and sealing drives in the city.
For this, the district town planner (DTP) of the enforcement wing of DTCP, RS Batth, has prepared a list of show-cause notices and restoration orders issued against illegal colonies and unauthorised construction in the past one year. Batth said they will target structures owned by those who were served notices in the past, but failed to stop construction and restore the site.
“Those under scanner include illegal colonies, redeveloping illegal colonies after demolition, unauthorised construction after obtaining occupation certificates in licensed colonies, running commercial activities in residential properties and encroachment in markets,” he said.
Batth added there are around 1,000 such cases in controlled and urban areas, out of which around 500 have been served show-cause notices while the rest have been issued restoration orders.
“All paperwork has been completed and the next step is demolition in case of illegal colonies and sealing in case of unauthorised construction,” he said. He added that with the expansion of MCG limits and Manesar becoming a civic body, controlled areas will be managed by MCG while urban areas will be under DTCP. According to Section 7A of the Haryana Development and Regulation of Urban Areas Act 1975, a NOC has to be obtained from DTCP to register a plot of land less than two kanals in size to ensure that the land isn’t sub-divided to create smaller plots as part of unauthorised colonies.
