News: Demolition drive: Six assault officials, booked in Gurugram's Kadarpur-24-12-2020
GURUGRAM: : Following the complaint of the district town planner in connection with the attack on the enforcement team in Kadarpur on Tuesday, six persons have been booked, including the builder of the illegal colony.
District town planner (enforcement) RS Batth said the situation may have been worse had police not brought it under control.
“As soon as we started the drive and demolished two unoccupied structures, agitated locals started gathering and soon they were around 200 in number,” he said.
He added that the accused started instigating the crowd who then pelted stones on the enforcement and police officials. “The team members had to run for a shelter but the villagers caught JCB drivers Rajbir and Powinder and thrashed them badly. The drive has to be halted as police dispersed the crowd and caught the accused persons, Gajraj Dayma, Inderjeet, Ajay Kumar, Arvind, Amarnath and Dharmender,” Batth said.
Meanwhile, the department of town and country planning (DTCP) is likely to resume the demolition drive in the illegal colony of Kadarpur to raze the remaining buildings which were spared on Tuesday as they were occupied.
According to the enforcement team officials, the plot owners living on the ground floor have started construction work of the first and second floors. The department will issue notices to such occupants to vacate the premises within a week, following which demolition will be carried out.
Sources informed that DTCP will also ask the plot owners to file a police complaint against the property dealers and builder for cheating them and seek refund of money invested in these illegal plots.
Police said that a case has been registered against six persons, other accused will be identified with the help of footage videographed by the enforcement team.
Batth said the department will take strict action against the accused if the construction is restarted at the site. Director of DTCP, KM Pandurang, told TOI that the department will not tolerate such attacks on its officials and staff.
