News: HSVP to build 3 markets off Golf Course Road Extension-18-12-2020
GURUGRAM: The Haryana Shahari Vikas Pradhikaran (HSVP) is planning to develop three markets in Sector 57 to cater to residents of the new sectors along Golf Course Road Extension.
Officials said the markets, to be built over a total area of nearly 14 acres at three locations, would check illegal vendors who encroach on the roads and haphazard parking of shoppers. HSVP has already proposed shopping complexes in sectors 27, 28, 56 and 45.
“The three shopping centres would be built on 10.9 acres, 2.5 acres and 298 sqmt in Sector 57-II. They have been planned in keeping with the demands of residents of the new sector. The sites and the plan have been shared with the department of town and country planning,” an HSVP official said.
He said the markets would have booths, double-storey shops and shop-cum-offices. In a letter to the DTCP, the HSVP has also sought that the size of the booths be increased to 15’x 30’.
Most HSVP markets have been criticised for poor planning. These shopping centres often draw low footfalls because of poorly managed parking lots, rampant encroachment and stray animals.
For long, resident of Sector 57 had been dependent on markets in the nearby sectors. “We had repeatedly approached HSVP, the chief minister’s office and other authorities, seeking development of well-planned markets. But no action was taken,” a resident said. The residents of the sector, he added, are forced to rely on expensive stores and malls for their daily needs.
For the markets that have been proposed already in sectors 27, 28, 56 and 45, DTCP officials said they had prepared a plan for commercial complexes of various sizes — ranging from 0.5 to 4 acres. The market areas will be allotted to private players through auction and developed according to the DTCP plan, an official said.
