News: Mayor to MCG: Take action against project delays-10-12-2020
GURUGRAM: Mayor Madhu Azad asked MCG officials and councillors of Zone 1 and Zone 2 to take strict action against officials holding up development work, in a meeting on Wednesday.
She said that she would report the names of lax officials to the chief minister’s office (CMO).
While the councillors discussed the problems related to sewerage, street lights and encroachment in the city, the mayor told the officials to ensure that councillors don’t have to run from pillar to post to carry out development work in their wards. Also, files related to development projects should not be kept pending without a valid reason, she added.
Councillor RS Rathee proposed in the meeting that an officer of the level of superintending engineer be appointed as the officer on special duty (OSD) for the mayor’s office to file replies for engineering projects on behalf of the mayor.
He also suggested a quantity survey wing and deadlines for completing files.
“I have suggested that a quantity survey to prepare in-house estimates of various projects should be constituted so that we don’t have to be dependent on consultants. Moreover, I have suggested appointing an OSD for the mayor office to send show-cause notices to the engineering wing officials as there are always complaints against them,” said Rathee.
Councillor of Ward 19, Ashwani Sharma, suggested to revive the ‘MCG at your doorstep’ programme.
The councillors also demanded that encroachment should be removed from their wards, street lights be installed, benches be kept in the parks and encroachment removed from the community centres.
