News: Sub-station in basement poses risk: Residents-24-11-2020
GURUGRAM: Residents of NBCC Green View, located in Sector 37 D, have expressed their concern regarding the safety of the electric sub-station installed in the basement of their society. They complained that water continuously oozes out from the floor in the substation and the DG room area since the housing society is located near Basai wetland, which is posing a serious threat to residents’ safety.
Deepak Jain, treasurer of NBCC Green View Association of Apartment Owners (AOAO) said, “The developer has dug five bores through which water is coming out continuously. Inspite of that, they have installed the electric sub-station in the basement area putting our lives at risk.” Yadvendra Yadav, a resident, said: “For the last two years, we have made several complaints to the developer but they have not come up with a permanent solution. As of now, the water has been flushing out through a pump which requires 24-hour electricity. In case the pump stops during outage or DG set failure, water gets collected in the basement.”
In September, the Central Electricity Authority (CEA) inspected the society and found that groundwater is coming out naturally in the basement area where the sub-station is located. “The CEA has asked the developer to take action including shifting the sub-station. However, the builder has done nothing to rectify the problem,” said Jain.
Meanwhile, the developer said that consultations are on with IIT Delhi and IIT Roorkee to find a permanent solution. Pramod Kumar, AGM NBCC said, “Temporary measures are already in place in the society to deal with the problem. We are also investigating the matter and consultation are on to find a permanent solution.”
