News: DTCP warns of action as illegal DLF-2 kiosks back-23-11-2020
GURUGRAM: Barely a week after the enforcement team of department of town and country planning (DTCP) razed illegal shops on Dakshin Marg in DLF-2, the shopkeepers have again started constructing kiosks in an illegal manner. The department is now planning to handle the menace in more strict manner.
On November 16, a demolition drive was carried out in the area with the help of an earthmover in the presence of around 50 police personnel. Around 15 illegal shops, dhabas and kiosks running without the permission on residential plots were demolished during the drive.
On Sunday, the DLF-2 residents complained to the district town planner RS Batth that the illegal shops were again being constructed in complete violation of the building norms.
When contacted, Batth confirmed that the complaints have been received and he would visit the area on Tuesday. “Those property owners and shop keepers who are found violating the norms will be booked. We will recommend FIR and arrest of such violators,” he said.
Residents of these areas have been complaining to the DTCP about illegal dhabas in the area, which are not only violating building norms and causing traffic woes, but are also raising concerns over safety and security. The department had earlier issued notices to the property owners, but they did not stop the commercial activities. Ramesh Kant, a resident, said, “Such illegal shops and dhabas are causing law and order issues as anti-social elements hang out at these shops. The enforcement team should visit the area on a regular basis to ensure that this does not happen again.”
