GURUGRAM: The Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) will be implemented in Gurugram from October 15. For this, the horticulture wing of the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) will deploy around 40 water tankers with mist machines to sprinkle water on trees and roads. Moreover, the sanitation wing has been asked to ensure that garbage is not burnt for which the sanitation wing will start issuing challans from October 15.
DS Bhadana, executive engineer of horticulture wing in the MCG, said, “We have been told to deploy water tanks with mist machines to sprinkle on the trees to remove dust. We are going to deploy 40 to 50 such tankers so that the maximum area is sprinkled with water.”
Moreover, the sanitation wing has been asked to ensure that no garbage is dumped on the roads or vacant plots. “Our enforcement teams will conduct checks at night in different areas and issue challans if residents are found burning garbage. Those found violating norms and burning garbage and dry leaves will be issued challans on the spot,” said Rishi Malik, senior sanitary inspector of Zone-3 and 4.
MCG officials added that with the implementation of GRAP, there would be a ban on construction activities, burning of municipal waste and dumping of C&D waste and not following these will invite hefty fines. Officials said that open dumping of garbage and construction material lying uncovered will also be checked as the GRAP is implemented.
A civic official said, “We are also going to seek help from the RWAs. Since a majority of parks are under the RWAs, we are going to ask them to properly dump dry leaves and ensure that dry leaves in parks are not burnt. There will be night patrolling to keep a check on these activities.”
Meanwhile, Udaybir Yadav, RWA president of Sector 10A in Gurugram, said, “We will keep a check on such activities and will also spread awareness among the people not to burn leaves and other municipal waste. Residents will also be asked to keep a check to inform the authorities if they see someone trying to burn leaves.”
