GURUGRAM: Struggling to keep a check on the mushrooming of illegal colonies in the city, the department of town and country planning (DTCP) has urged the deputy commissioner to cancel the sale deeds of plots in such areas. DTCP has shared the details of registries done in illegal colonies by the revenue department, which falls under the district administration, in the last one year.
Illegal colonies have emerged as the biggest challenge in the planned development of Gurugram. In the past six months, DTCP has razed hundreds of structures and cleared around 700 acres of land from illegal colonies.
DTCP director K M Pandurang, in a recent letter to the deputy commissioner of Gurugram, has highlighted that several sale deeds have been executed in urban areas of Gurugram notified under Section 7A of the Haryana Development and Regulation of Urban Areas Act, 1975, without obtaining no-objection certificates (NOCs) from DTCP as per norms.
He urged the administration to explore all possible legal mechanisms to undo the damage arising out of registration of such sale deeds, including cancellation of such registration or initiating judicial process. Strict disciplinary action should also be taken against the sub-registrar concerned, he said.
