News: Noida Authority leaves out number 13 as it names three new work circles for New Noida-16-10-2026
The Noida Authority will not use number 13 for the work circles it is creating for New Noida, also called the Dadri-Noida-Ghaziabad Investment Region (DNGIR). Three new circles, numbered 11, 12 and 14, will carve out new sectors and speed up urbanisation. No reason has been given for skipping 13, though Noida likewise has no Sector 13.
Kranti Shekhar, officer on special duty (OSD) at the authority, said old Noida has 10 work circles, numbered 1 to 10.
To speed up land acquisition, senior officials have been given extra responsibilities and field staff, including three lekhpals, are being deployed to survey land. Two general managers are in charge of the project.
Mahima, OSD at the authority, who is overseeing the project, said farmers and gram pradhans from Dadri and Bulandshahr raised queries about acquisition and their places of worship at meetings last week, and were told about Rehabilitation and Resettlement provisions. Last month the authority raised compensation by 53% for one category of acquisition, under which farmers also get a 5% developed plot.
