News: Gurugram registrar orders Mahindra Aura RWA to let EWS residents use park and common paths-26-09-2026
District registrar (firms and societies) Arpit Gehlawat has directed the residents’ welfare association (RWA) of Mahindra Aura in Sector 110, Gurugram, to allow residents of its economically weaker section (EWS) block to use the society park, internal roads and common pathways. The September 15 order followed a complaint from a 70-year-old resident, Kashmir Singh, who said he was denied entry.
The order bars the RWA, its office-bearers and security staff from restricting Singh, his wife Meena Rani or other EWS residents. Singh said the couple were refused entry to the park last month, and alleged that parking earmarked for EWS residents had been occupied and a shed built there.
He raised the matter with the Gurugram deputy commissioner at a Samadhan Shivir, which forwarded it to the registrar. The order said EWS residents must be allowed into parks and green spaces for recreation, fresh air and health, and that no resident should face intimidation, misbehaviour or discriminatory policing from management or security staff.
The RWA denied the allegations and said it would appeal to higher authorities in Chandigarh on Saturday. President SS Gill said that under government-approved bylaws EWS owners have no stake in common areas as they contributed nothing to their development, cannot become RWA members and pay minimum maintenance on subsidised flats. Former general secretary Rajesh Arora said the association would challenge the order legally, arguing that it exceeded the registrar’s mandate.
The society has 599 flats and 141 EWS units, and regular flat owners pay over Rs 11,000 a month in maintenance, Arora said.
