News: Two flats gutted as fire hits 12th floor of Noida Sector 75 tower, no casualties-05-06-2026
A large fire on the 12th floor of a residential high-rise in Noida’s Sector 75 gutted at least two flats on Friday morning, fire officials said. It took several hours to bring under control, and no casualties were reported.
Chief fire officer Pradeep Kumar Chubey said the department learnt of the blaze around 7am and sent six fire tenders and hydraulic platforms. Firefighters used breathing apparatus to enter the flats, and flats 1203 and 1204 were burnt down. Officials suspect a short circuit in an air conditioner or a lamp in the temple area of one flat, but the cause is not confirmed and an investigation is under way.
Resident videos on social media showed thick smoke from a 12th-floor balcony, and officials said upper floors were damaged too. In one video seen by HT, water from a fire tender seemed unable to reach beyond the sixth or seventh floor. The department later brought in 42-metre hydraulic platforms, its tallest, which can reach the 14th floor.
Meanwhile, a major fire broke out at a restaurant in a Sector 52 complex around 7.45am. Fifteen fire tenders were sent and 15 people were rescued. A short circuit in a refrigerator is the suspected cause. The fire was under control by about 10am, and cooling work continued to prevent reignition.
