News: Gurugram civic House clears sale of idle plots to builders and 168 Vita milk booths amid uproar-13-05-2026
The Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) on Monday approved 168 Vita milk booths across the city and the sale of unused municipal land parcels to adjoining private builders, at a House meeting marked by disruptions and heated exchanges. Vita is a dairy brand run by the Haryana Dairy Development Cooperative Federation Ltd.
Officials said the booths would improve access to dairy products and earn revenue. The small, non-functional plots, many lying vacant between societies and builder projects, are hard to use for civic purposes. MCG commissioner Pradeep Dahiya said such parcels cause maintenance problems and that selling them would bring revenue and allow planned use of the land.
The House also cleared proposals to regulate illegal water connections, appoint chowkidars and safai karamcharis in schools, allocate land for infrastructure including the Rapid Rail Transit System (RRTS), and build an indoor stadium on about 3,000 square yards.
A row over a water cooler in Ward 2 led to a proposal condemning the District Town Planner. Mayor Raj Rani Malhotra said the House was committed to decisions in the city’s larger interest. Officials added that some land-use proposals could be revisited later.
