News: Pollution board serves show-cause notices on 217 Manesar sites for flouting dust rules-13-05-2026
The Haryana State Pollution Control Board (HSPCB) on Tuesday issued show-cause notices to owners of 217 construction sites in Manesar for alleged violations of dust norms, officials said. The sites exceed 500 square metres, which places them in the mandatory compliance category.
The lapses included web-cameras for remote monitoring that were not working, inadequate green cover and no protective sheets. Siddhartha Bhargava, regional officer of HSPCB Gurugram’s south wing, said other violations included irregular water sprinkling, poorly covered material and a lack of wind barriers. Environmental compensation may be imposed after the replies are reviewed.
Owners must register on an online portal and upload self-audited reports every 15 days. At least 400 Manesar sites are registered. Bhargava noted that some owners do not close completed projects on the portal.
The next phase will involve on-ground inspections, including checks on whether barricading meets the prescribed height.
HT had reported on May 10 that notices were issued to 58 Gurugram sites; 566 sites there are registered on the portal.
