News: NBCC begins hunt for independent auditor to check quality at Sarojini Nagar, Netaji Nagar colonies-07-05-2026
NBCC (India) has started the process of choosing an independent agency to monitor construction quality at two general pool residential accommodation (GPRA) redevelopment projects in south Delhi, Sarojini Nagar and Netaji Nagar, which are nearing completion.
Officials said the agency will handle quality control and assurance for civil, electrical, mechanical and related work in Sarojini Nagar packages 2 and 11 and Netaji Nagar packages 1, 3A, 3B and 5. One official said the aim is to assess construction quality independently before large-scale occupation of the redeveloped colonies begins. The agency will examine structural quality, workmanship, material testing and compliance with set standards.
NBCC has limited eligibility to leading technical and quality institutions, including IITs, NITs, the National Council for Cement and Building Materials and the Quality Council of India. The selected body will post civil and MEP (mechanical, electrical and plumbing) engineers and senior experts at the sites.
The Sarojini Nagar project covers nearly 258 acres in 17 packages, of which packages 1, 3 and 9A are complete. Netaji Nagar spans 110 acres in seven packages, with work under way in all of them.
Both are part of the Centre’s plan, cleared by the Union Cabinet in 2016, to redevelop ageing government colonies in Delhi on a self-financing model. The projects use higher floor area ratio under the Master Plan for Delhi 2021 and include sewage treatment plants, dual plumbing and rainwater harvesting.
