News: Arun Vihar residents’ body in Noida introduces four-bin waste system with 26 composting units planned-02-04-2026
The Arun Vihar Residents Welfare Association (AVRWA) in Noida, working with the Noida authority, is preparing to launch a four-bin waste management system from Wednesday. Since Monday it has held workshops in parks and community spaces to train residents, domestic workers and sanitation staff in segregating waste at source.
Arun Vihar covers Sectors 28, 29 and 37, with about 5,000 flats and an estimated 25,000 residents. Residents complained that waste segregated at home got mixed during door-to-door collection. AVRWA chairman Prashant Gupta said most of it ended up at dumping sites, adding to the landfill burden.
Wet waste will be composted within each ward, and the RWA plans 26 composting units to create a model other Noida sectors can copy.
Households must sort waste into wet waste, dry recyclables, sanitary waste and domestic hazardous waste, each going into a separate bin. The association warned of penalties for non-compliance. Awareness sessions and training continue, and the system will be implemented in phases over the coming days.
