News: DDA sold 29,909 flats in four years as policy changes lifted sales and revenue, official data shows-11-03-2026
The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) sold 29,909 housing units between 2022-23 and 2025-26, official figures released on Tuesday show. That is 340.9 per cent more than the 6,783 units sold in the previous four years, from 2018-19 to 2021-22. Revenue from sales reached Rs 10,446 crore, up 152.9 per cent from Rs 4,130 crore earlier.
Officials credited stronger demand and policy changes that simplified sales and widened access to schemes. They said the LG enforced several rule changes and simpler procedures, including amalgamation of flats and permission to pick a flat. A key reform removed the bar on owners of 67 square metres or more buying another DDA flat. Buyers can now view sample flats and actual units before choosing, and allotment works on a first-come, first-served basis instead of a lottery.
An official said there was a deliberate effort to clear the backlog of unsold flats and shape schemes around market demand. Other steps included merging adjacent flats, bulk purchases by government agencies or private entities, dropping parking charges from flat cost calculations, simpler paperwork, flexible payment options and more transparent allotment.
The higher sales helped DDA end a decade of annual deficits. It recorded a surplus of over Rs 511 crore in 2023-24, its first since 2012-13, then Rs 1,672 crore in 2024-25 and over Rs 2,083 crore in 2025-26, three surpluses in a row.
DDA has also run targeted schemes, some aimed at clearing stock in localities such as Narela and Siraspur, others offering discounts and revised pricing. Officials said more housing inventory will be released through upcoming schemes to keep sales moving.
