News: Ansal Golf Link 1 residents in Greater Noida say authority has neglected their colony for over ten years-10-03-2026
Residents of the Ansal Housing colony in Sector Omega 1, Greater Noida, accuse the Greater Noida authority of ignoring their neighbourhood for more than ten years. They cite broken roads, sewage overflow, unkempt parks and dead streetlights. The colony, Golf Link 1, has around 900 plots, and residents call it one of the least liveable residential pockets in the Noida-Greater Noida region. Some now refer to it as the Broken Roads Colony.
According to residents, the original agreement required the authority to take over the colony within a year of project completion and then look after maintenance. That takeover has not happened in over a decade, they said. Vijay K Pahuja, a resident, said the project was sold with the promise that the authority would handle maintenance at no extra cost, and that it is now backing away. Other residents said many families put their life savings into homes here on the strength of those assurances. One resident who asked not to be named said the parks had turned into jungles.
Pahuja alleged that residents deposited money for better maintenance two years ago, about Rs 4 crore by his reckoning, yet the authority is using it to hire contractors for temporary work rather than taking over the society.
Authority officials replied that upkeep depends on funds contributed by residents. Ravindra Singh Gaur, assistant manager at GNIDA, said the work is done with the money deposited, and more will follow as further funds come in. He said meetings on the matter continue at GNIDA. Ajit Bhai Patel, senior manager (electric and horticulture), said material is being stored at the site, the tender process is complete, and work should move ahead within 15 to 20 days if all goes to plan.
Residents remain sceptical and said they may protest if the situation does not improve soon.
