News: Bids Invited for Rs 1,662 Crore Gurugram Metro Phase-2-05-10-2026
Bids for the Phase-2 priority corridor from Sector 9 to DLF Cyber Hub can be filed from November 9 to November 18, officials said, after Gurugram Metro Rail Ltd (GMRL) floated the tender Monday. The Rs 1,662 crore estimate will be financed by the World Bank, and completion is due within 30 months of award.
The work comprises a 14.2-km metro corridor, 13 stations and double decker flyovers at Bajghera and Old Delhi Road: an estimated 800 metres at Bajghera and 1.2 km on Old Delhi Road. The tender requires design and construction of permanent and temporary works for the structure at Bajghera Chowk and part of Old Delhi-Gurgaon Road. GMRL said the double?deck viaduct was not originally envisaged but became the most rational option at certain sections of GMRP, for spatial efficiency and better traffic, with a vehicle flyover below and metro viaduct above.
Stations: Sector 7, Sector 4, Sector 5, Ashok Vihar, Sector 3, Bajghera Road, Palam Vihar Extension, Palam Vihar, Sector 23A, Sector-22, Udyog Vihar Phase-4, Udyog Vihar Phase-5 and Cyber City, each designed around peak hour traffic load, with platforms for 6 cars per train. The DPR’s horizon year is 2041, projecting maximum Peak Hour Peak Direction Trip (PHPDT) of 34,309.
Scope also includes a detailed survey of the viaduct alignment, geotechnical investigation at foundation locations, and piles, pier caps and U-type girders. The contractor must run a traffic management plan for safe vehicle movement and, with Gurugram Traffic Police, prepare diversion plans, supplying traffic marshals, cones and diversion boards as police desire, officials said.
A senior GMRL official said the tender prioritises quality, delivery, timelines and cost, and the winner will have "a proven track record."
Phase-1, a 15.2-km Millennium City Centre-Sector 9 corridor, is under construction; with 14 stations, it has seen around 15 per cent physical construction.
