News: CM Saini Studies Singapore’s Suntec City for Gurugram Centre-05-10-2026
Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini visited Suntec City in Singapore on Oct 4 to study its convention centre as a model for the 25-acre world-class convention centre proposed in Gurugram.
Saini, who left for Singapore on Oct 3 to study international infrastructure and urban development models, examined the facilities, construction technology, engineering and operating systems at Suntec City. He said the Gurugram centre would be developed on similar lines, with advanced technology to host international conferences, business meetings, exhibitions and other global events, and that studying the Singapore facility was important for understanding best international practices.
The project is intended to strengthen Gurugram’s standing as an international business and events destination. Saini said it would enhance the city’s global identity, draw investment, boost business activity and benefit Haryana’s economy.
The visit is part of the state government’s effort to study models of infrastructure development, urban planning, environmental management and water conservation that could be adopted in Haryana. Saini reviewed environment-friendly infrastructure, particularly water supply and conservation measures, and sought details of the technologies in use. He said Singapore’s experience would be considered for implementation to make the state "more developed, modern and environment-friendly".
He also announced plans for a large, aesthetically developed park in Manesar, which he said would give residents green and open spaces along with better civic amenities.
At Gardens by the Bay on Oct 4, Saini met Indian and foreign tourists, several of whom took photographs and selfies with him.
Those accompanying him included Haryana Industries and Commerce Minister Rao Narbir Singh, Industries and Commerce Department Commissioner and Secretary Amit Kumar Agrawal, the department’s Director General Yash Garg, Information, Public Relations, Language and Culture Department Director Aditya Dahiya and HSIIDC Managing Director Vinay Pratap Singh.
