News: Rs 58 Crore Sohna Road Sewer Repair to Start by Month-End-04-10-2026
On Sunday an official said the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has awarded the contract to upgrade the sewer line between Rajiv Chowk and Sheeshpal Vihar on Sohna Road. Work should begin at month-end and end three months later, using cured-in-place pipe technology. A senior NHAI official put the cost at Rs 58 crore and said the technical design has gone to GMDA for approval.
The pipe is around three decades old and in poor shape. Near Sheeshpal Vihar, Sohna Road has seen six cave-ins over the past three years. On May 6, part of the road by Subash Chowk, opposite SD Adarsh Vidyalaya, collapsed when the master sewer line gave way, and a lane of the main carriageway was barricaded off.
The line lies about 20 feet under the highway and takes sewage from sectors 45 to 51 to the Behrampur sewage treatment plant. A GMDA official aware of the matter said the highway authority has been asked to use the highest quality liner.
