News: Sector 72 Boosting Station Live; Water for Sectors 58-80-02-10-2026
Water supply to residential sectors 58 to 80 should improve in the coming weeks after the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) made its Rs 32-crore Sector 72 boosting station operational and began distribution trials on Wednesday, officials said on Friday.
Until now, sectors 58 to 74 were fed through the Sector 51 boosting station and relied on tankers or groundwater in summer. Sectors 75 to 80 had no supply arrangement.
Executive engineer Abhinav Verma said the final connection of the 18km pipeline from Chandu Budhera to the station near Almeida Chowk is complete and water should reach most residential areas in two weeks. Two large stretches of pipe were laid under the Dwarka Expressway, and over 30 leakages were fixed in the line laid in 2012-13.
Officials said agencies have spent more than Rs 400 crore on the distribution network from Chandu Budhera to these sectors.
Separately, chief minister Nayab Singh Saini said on Friday that the foundation stone for converting the Gurugram Water Supply Channel into an underground pipeline will be laid in January.
