News: GMDA Tender Out for Rs 776 Crore Elevated SPR First Phase-02-10-2026
Bids close on November 18 for the first phase of the elevated Southern Peripheral Road (SPR), which the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) put to tender on Thursday, officials said. The 4.23km stretch from Vatika Chowk to the Dwarka Expressway cloverleaf on the Delhi-Gurgaon Expressway will cost Rs 776 crore under the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) mode, with completion 30 months after allotment. A Rs 755 crore tender from March was cancelled in June because the state government wanted changes in the request for proposal (RFP).
GMDA expects less congestion at junctions in sectors 69, 70, 71/72, 70/75, 71/74, 75/75A and 74/74A. Its traffic studies and population projections say these will need grade separation within 10 years, as hourly traffic is expected to pass 10,000 car units. Chief engineer Pravin Chaudhary said the design has four elevated lanes each way between Vatika Chowk and NH-48, 3+3-lane primary and 2+2-lane secondary service roads, second-level access roads for Sector 75 and 75A roads and Tulip Chowk, allowing seamless movement between the Delhi-Gurgaon Expressway and Sohna Road, plus ramps, loops and surface-level U-turns for signal-free travel.
CEO PC Meena said phase two adds a grade-separated dynamic interchange at Vatika Chowk and phase three an 8.5km elevated corridor to Ghata; DPRs for both are under preparation.
The SPR project also came up at a review meeting chaired by chief minister Nayab Singh Saini at the PWD Guest House in Gurugram on Friday. He told officials to speed up the Sheetla Mata Medical College and Hospital, with civil works due by December and early operationalisation planned, and to strengthen drainage, with more rainwater harvesting structures, large ponds and drainage provisions in green belts.
