News: GMDA to Build Hero Honda Chowk-Umang Bhardwaj Elevated Road-02-10-2026
Haryana has cleared an elevated road between Hero Honda Chowk and Umang Bhardwaj Chowk, with the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) as executing agency instead of NHAI, officials said on Thursday. GMDA will hire a consultant for a fresh detailed project report (DPR) on the 2.25km stretch, a senior official said, within days.
At a Thursday meeting led by GMDA chief executive officer PC Meena, with chief engineer Praveen Chaudhary and NHAI officials, NHAI said shifting water supply lines, sewer lines and stormwater drains is incomplete and high-tension line relocation continues. A Sector 37 substation is being built so one in Sector 10 can move. An NHAI official said it was told GMDA would execute.
About three months ago NHAI proposed to GMDA a Rs 181 crore three-lane elevated road, with three-lane main carriageway and three-lane service roads either side at ground level. GMDA sent it to the state, which opted for GMDA to take it up with a new DPR; Meena had earlier this month expected approval shortly.
Officials expect better links between Dwarka Expressway and the Delhi-Jaipur highway and less congestion. The poor road carries around 70,000 to 80,000 vehicles daily, with severe peak-hour jams. NHAI meanwhile floated an Rs 81 lakh repair tender, including relaying portions with bitumen and fixing damaged concrete.
