News: Haryana Approves Rs 1,662 Cr Gurugram Metro Phase 2 Tender-01-10-2026
A senior Gurugram Metro Rail Limited (GMRL) official said the Haryana government has approved the Rs 1,662-crore civil construction tender, including 18% GST, for phase two from Sector 9 to DLF Cyber City via Old Gurugram, and that it will be floated within a week.
After World Bank approval in June, the tender went to the state. A senior government official said the chief minister’s office raised observations and objections, so it returned to metro authorities for changes before clearance.
The 15.3-kilometre elevated corridor’s tender includes viaduct, stations, track and related civil works, and double-decker stretches at Bajghera and a longer one on Old Delhi Road, added at GMDA’s requirement to cut congestion, the official said. Signalling, electrical, traction and design works are excluded and will be handled separately. "We are expecting that the tender for the metro depot will also get approval soon," he said.
The 14 stations: Sector 7, Sector 4, Sector 5, Ashok Vihar, Sector 3, Bajghera Road, Palam Vihar Extension, Palam Vihar, Sector 23A, Sector 22, Udyog Vihar phase 4, Udyog Vihar phase 5 and DLF Cyber City, with Rapid Metro and Namo Bharat Rail interchanges.
GMRL’s project cost was revised in May from Rs 5,452 crore to Rs 10,266 crore owing to inflation and revised GST rates. Phase one, about 15 km from Millennium City Centre to Sector 9 with 13 stations and a spur to Sector 101 near Dwarka Expressway, began in September last year and is around 15% done. Its stations: Millennium City Centre, Sector 45, Unitech Cyber Park, Sector 47, Subhash Chowk, Sector 48, Sector 72A, Hero Honda Chowk, Udyog Vihar Phase VI, Sector-10, Sector 37, Basai Village, Sector 101 and Sector 9. Last month the state chose to use the Land Acquisition Act of 2013, as several private owners declined to sell under the metro purchase policy.
