News: Janaula Toll Plaza on Gurugram-Pataudi-Rewari Road 80% Built-30-09-2026
A 16-lane toll plaza is being set up at Janaula on the under-construction Gurugram-Pataudi-Rewari highway, with the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) having begun the process and expecting it to raise annual toll revenue.
A senior NHAI official said the plaza, with eight lanes on each side, is 80% complete and will use a multi-lane free flow (MLFF) system to be installed by another NHAI company, which has already floated the tender. Another senior official said the contractor will design, supply, install, test and commission the system, with one gantry per direction on the main carriageway, including paved shoulders, within approximately 350 metres downstream of the fee plaza. Janaula is 19 kms from Dwarka expressway, he said, and the bid opens on October 23.
The 45-kilometre highway has cost Rs 1,900 crore, of which Rs 600 crore went on land. Most work is done, except a railway overbridge at Pahari village and a flyover at Dwarka Expressway, both due by March. High-tension lines at Wazirpur are expected to be shifted soon, allowing the completed flyover there to open.
Load-bearing tests have begun on the Jamalpur flyover, which should open in a few days, and the Patli flyover is expected to open in the next 15 days. Earlier this month, three flyovers between Dwarka Expressway and Wazirpur and the Pataudi bypass were opened.
Motorists between Gurugram and Rewari now use the Delhi-Jaipur Highway. Officials estimate about 70% of that traffic will move to the new route, also easing the road linking Gurugram to Pataudi and Rewari.
