News: First 40 E-Buses Due in Gurugram in Early October-25-09-2026
Gurugram is expected to receive at least 40 electric buses in the first week of October as the phased induction of its electric fleet begins, a senior Gurugram Metropolitan City Bus Limited (GMCBL) official said.
The buses will mainly serve intercity routes, the official said, with IMT Manesar Sector 1 to Dwarka Mor and to Dwarka Sector 21 metro station among those proposed.
GMCBL ran a three-day trial of the first nine-metre electric bus on four routes in August to assess battery performance and passenger capacity. That bus arrived in July as part of a planned fleet of 100 under the PM e-Bus Sewa scheme, of which 25 were initially expected.
The plan for the 100 buses covers 20 trunk, primary, secondary and regional routes connecting Manesar, Sohna, Farrukhnagar, Palam Vihar, Dwarka Expressway and key metro stations.
The Sector 10 depot has six charging points that can charge 12 buses at a time, according to GMCBL, and a second depot at Sector 48 is being prepared. GMCBL currently operates 150 CNG buses. The Haryana government had earlier approved 200 electric buses for Gurugram and Faridabad.
