News: NHAI Tenders Rs 81 Lakh Repair of Hero Honda Chowk Road-25-09-2026
A tender has been floated by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) to repair a badly damaged 2.4km stretch between Umang Bhardwaj Chowk and Hero Honda Chowk at a cost of around Rs 81 lakh, officials said.
Officials said the road was damaged in the recent monsoon, and sewage overflowing from a nearby colony created large potholes. An NHAI official said around 1.6km will be relaid with bitumen and the concrete portions repaired, while concrete blocks will be installed on a section prone to waterlogging and frequent damage. The tender opens next week and repairs should take about a month.
Commuters said the stretch is riddled with potholes and its dust adds to pollution. Jitender Kumar, a regular user, said the road is at its worst after every monsoon and should be reconstructed.
The NHAI official said a permanent solution is being worked out and the authority is waiting for the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) to decide between an elevated road and a surface road. A senior GMDA official said the proposal is under final consideration of higher authorities in Chandigarh and a decision is expected soon.
