News: NHAI Asks GMDA for Rs 250 Crore Dues for NH-352W Works-20-09-2026
The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has asked the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) to release Rs 250 crore in pending funds for works it is executing on GMDA’s behalf, cautioning that delay could hold up projects including utility shifting needed for the six-laning of NH-352W.
In a letter dated August 13, NHAI chairman Santosh Yadav said the works carry a combined estimated cost of Rs 375.21 crore, of which GMDA had deposited only Rs 124.84 crore.
Utility shifting on the Hero Honda Chowk-Umang Bhardwaj Chowk section of NH-352W is estimated at Rs 136.76 crore, against which Rs 18.45 crore has been received. Shifting between the Dwarka Expressway Junction and Wazirpur Chowk is estimated at Rs 105.18 crore, with Rs 31.39 crore received and Rs 73.79 crore outstanding. Nothing has come for the Rs 58.27 crore CIPP rehabilitation of the Sohna Road sewage pipeline.
Yadav wrote that the contractor had mobilised resources and begun work, but the shortfall was constraining execution and could lead to contractual implications. Timely completion was essential to ease congestion and prevent further sinkholes, he said.
The Hero Honda Chowk stretch is also crucial for the Gurugram metro, and GMRL officials have repeatedly sought the shifting over the past six months.
GMDA chief executive officer PC Meena said the transfer would be taken up on priority, calling it "a routine matter" between two government agencies.
