News: Rs 775 Crore Elevated SPR Tender Awaits Vetting Nod-17-09-2026
The tender for a 4.2km elevated Southern Peripheral Road (SPR) from Vatika Chowk to NH-48 is likely to be cleared by the state government’s vetting committee within a week, the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) said on Thursday.
A senior GMDA official aware of the matter said the Rs 775 crore tender already has state government approval and will be floated once the committee agrees, by the start of next month. Under the latest state directive, all tenders above Rs 15 crore go to the committee for scrutiny. Construction is likely to take 30 months.
GMDA had withdrawn the phase-one tender in June after the government sought changes to the document and a revised request for proposal (RFP).
The corridor will have 4+4 lanes, 3+3-lane primary service roads and 2+2 secondary service lanes, with two-lane ramps at key junctions. An interchange at NH-48 will link it to the national highway network. Another proposed at Vatika Chowk will connect it with the Gurugram-Sohna elevated corridor.
The official said the detailed project report for phase two, from Ghata to Vatika Chowk, should be finalised in two months, and estimates for a cloverleaf interchange at Vatika Chowk within two weeks.
According to GMDA, the project should ease peak-hour bottlenecks at intersections in sectors 69, 70, 71/72, 70/75, 71/74, 75/75A and 74/74A. Its studies indicate these junctions will need grade separation within 10 years, as hourly traffic is expected to exceed 10,000 car units.
In 2022, GMDA had decided to build the entire 12km stretch from Ghata to NH-48 for Rs 845 crore, but developers could not be persuaded to share part of the cost.
