News: 32 Power Feeders Near Hero Honda Chowk to Move for Metro-15-09-2026
The 32 high-tension power lines and feeders that stand on the carriageway between Hero Honda Chowk and Umang Bhardwaj Chowk will be moved by the end of September, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) said on Monday. They are being shifted to the side of the road to make way for the Gurugram Metro line.
NHAI officials said three feeders have been shifted and the remaining 12 under its scope will be moved this month. A senior NHAI official said the authority is coordinating with the Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (DHBVN), and that all 17 will be shifted by the end of the month. A 66 kVA electricity substation being built along the road should be completed by the end of this year, he added.
DHBVN said it has already shifted 10 feeders. Shyambir Saini, superintending engineer, DHBVN, circle one, said the 66 kVA substation in Sector 37 C has been commissioned and the shifted feeders connected to it, and that the remaining seven would be moved by the end of this week.
Saini said the work was delayed because the stretch is busy and most of it is done on weekends. Many industries draw power from these feeders, and shutdowns are easier on weekends. He said the remaining work would be completed in one to two weeks.
A senior GMDA official said shifting the feeders and a 66 kVA power station was a top priority so that metro work is not held up, and that a meeting on these issues will be held soon.
