News: Saini Clears 47 Acres in Sector 33 for Gurugram Metro Depot-12-09-2026
Chief minister Nayab Singh Saini approved transferring 47 acres of Haryana Shahari Vikas Pradhikaran (HSVP) land in Sector 33 for a depot for the over Rs 10,000-crore Gurugram metro, a senior government official aware of the matter said. Gurugram Metro Rail Limited (GMRL), building the loop between Millennium City Centre and Cyber Hub, had requested it; approval came earlier this week.
The permanent transfer carries nominal rent of Rs 1 per square metre a month, about Rs 1.90 lakh, for its entire tenure. HSVP will get adequate floor space in the proposed Metro Bhawan on the site, and half the building remains with it.
GMRL also wants around 14,000 square metres in Islampur village, partly private and built-up, being negotiated under the new land purchase policy offering owners 25% above market rates. A land acquisition official said some owners agreed, others are negotiating. The depot tender was floated June 16, technical bids opened August 5, and six companies applied; a spokesperson said it is in final stages.
