News: GMDA Chief Orders GIS Mapping and Digital IDs for Assets-09-09-2026
At a Tuesday review meeting with engineering officials, Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) CEO PC Meena asked for Geographic Information System (GIS) mapping of its works and digital IDs for roads, drains and other infrastructure assets, saying this will keep proper digital records and help with future identification and upkeep.
It follows his earlier rule that every GMDA work must carry a pilot project showing initial quality: the first 100-200 metres of a road or other structure must be completed and inspected, and the rest may proceed only if quality, design and execution are satisfactory, an authority statement said. He also wanted plantation across GMDA green belts done before November and said footpaths must be restored and maintained for safe pedestrian movement.
Officials said court matters affect about 220 metres of the Dwarka Expressway service road, part of Rampura Road and approximately 600 metres of the Multi-Utility Corridor Road.
In a separate meeting on the CCTV project, Meena said the city will have 4,287 cameras by year-end and told officials to maximise traffic surveillance and use the network for critical damage coverage. GMDA has installed 1,200 cameras in Phase-I, with 2,722 going up in Phase-II. An MoU with Maruti Suzuki India Ltd and an NGO covers 365 cameras and 29 speed radars at 23 junctions.
