News: Chandu Budhera-Sector 72 Water Main Repaired by GMDA-09-09-2026
The Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) has repaired the 18-km master water pipeline from the Chandu Budhera water treatment plant to the Sector 72 boosting station and begun storing water there, officials said on Tuesday. Storage tanks will now be cleaned and the distribution network tested, with supply to residential areas expected within a month.
More than 30 leaks were fixed over the past year, most of them up to NH 48, and a missing section was laid beneath the Dwarka expressway. Repairs continue at the end point near Vatika Chowk.
Haryana Shahari Vikas Pradhikran (HSVP) laid the line in 2012. After the Dwarka expressway’s alignment changed, it had to be shifted along Central Peripheral Road (CPR) and stayed non-functional because of missing links.
Abhinav Verma, executive engineer, GMDA, said the station will supply sector 58 to sector 80, underserved areas that now get water from the sector 51 boosting station. He said the tank has around 50 million litres per day (MLD) capacity and the pumping station 283 MLD.
The station will also serve Gwal Pahari village and nearby areas, where GMDA has built a boosting system and is laying a pipeline. Officials said it will ease pressure on the Sector-51 station and steady supply to sectors 51 to 57.
