News: Sector 45 Metro Station Multimodal Hub: 53,000 Daily Riders-04-09-2026
Gurugram Metro Rail Limited (GMRL) has proposed making Sector 45 metro station a multimodal transport hub that is projected to handle more than 53,000 passengers a day by 2051.
The plan, shared with the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) at a meeting earlier this week and seen by HT, projects 27,865 daily boardings and 24,914 alightings. Peak-hour boarding and alighting are put at 3,857 and 3,494.
The hub would have facilities for cars, autos, e-rickshaws, buses, cabs, differently abled passengers and EV charging, plus pedestrian facilities and public bike sharing. Each direction gets five car bays, six auto/e-rickshaw bays and two bus bays.
The plan flags broken footpaths along drains that push pedestrians onto service lanes, a painted cycle lane lying unused because it is broken, and service roads made partly unusable by on-street parking and damaged surfaces.
A senior GMDA official privy to the matter said buses, taxis and private cars would be integrated so that last-mile connectivity is smooth, and obstacles around stations would be removed on priority.
For the proposed Cyber Park station, GMRL projects 24,784 daily boardings and 22,087 alightings by 2051, with five car/taxi bays, seven auto/e-rickshaw bays and two bus bays in each direction. Utility hindrances identified there include sewer lines, electricity infrastructure, trees, optical-fibre cables, water infrastructure and high-tension lines.
The Sector 72 station, opposite Sector 33 and near the metro depot, is proposed on similar lines.
A senior GMRL official said suggestions have been sought from stakeholders on the three plans, and that the corporation is also working to get the phase two tender approved by the state government.
