News: Gurugram Metro: Three Stations Planned as Transport Hubs-01-09-2026
Three stations on the upcoming Gurugram Metro corridor will be developed as multi-modal transport hubs for last-mile connectivity, Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) officials said on Monday. They are Sector 45, Sector 39 (Cyber Park) and Sector 33 near the metro depot.
The proposal is at the design stage. On Monday, metro authorities presented the multi-modal design for Sector 45 at a meeting chaired by additional GMDA CEO Vishwajeet Chaudhary. It will be finalised after the stakeholder agencies, GMDA, Haryana Shahari Vikas Pradhikaran (HSVP), Gurugram Metropolitan City Bus Limited (GMCBL) and the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG), submit objections and suggestions.
Gurugram Metro Rail Limited (GMRL) will design and build the stations. GMDA officials said the cost and funding of additional construction outside the metro project’s scope will be decided after the state government’s consent.
A senior GMDA official present at the meeting said the Sector 45 plan integrates city buses, autos and private vehicles into the station design, with bus bays, auto stands and footpaths to ease entry and exit. The design is proposed to be in sync with amenities nearby. Removal of utilities around the stations was also discussed, an official said.
A senior GMRL official said the hubs would integrate buses, e-rickshaws and auto-rickshaws to cut the time and effort of last-mile travel, with three stations taken up initially.
Rajesh Kaushik, senior town planner, MCG, who attended, said the hubs should have skywalks that could also connect nearby offices and malls. He said all metro stations in the city could become transport hubs, and that skywalks and multiple entry and exit points would reduce congestion.
Sector 45 had earlier been identified as the first station for multi-modal integration.
