News: Greenwood City Sector 45 Residents Face Water Shortage-31-08-2026
At least 500 families in Greenwood City township in Sector 45 have gone without adequate water for over two weeks and are relying on private tankers and packaged drinking water. HT could not independently confirm from residents or officials the exact date the shortage began.
Residents of the township, which has blocks A, B and C, said repeated complaints had brought neither a permanent solution nor an alternative arrangement, and that the main borewell is not working.
Vineeta Khosla, residents’ welfare association (RWA) president of C block, said some families were less affected while others had started calling tankers. MCG officials told her mud had accumulated in the borewell and that another borewell may be installed, she said.
Yogesh Mehta of Block A said tanker operators were charging Rs 2,400 to Rs 3,500 per tanker because of higher demand. Sunaina Khanna of Block B said disruptions happen every year but this one has lasted much longer, and that pressure is too low.
A junior MCG official, requesting anonymity, said low pressure in the supply from the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) was one factor, and that the borewell’s issues would be fixed on Monday. A GMDA official, who asked not to be named, said no issue had been reported but a team would be sent for inspection.
