News: Gurugram Metro Lifts First U-Girder Near Cyber Park-30-08-2026
Late Friday night, the Gurugram Metro expansion lifted its first U-girder, 160 tonnes, near Cyber Park, onto pillars 26 and 27 with 400-tonne and 600-tonne hydraulic cranes. After a puja, Haryana industry and commerce minister Rao Narbir Singh formally began the activity.
"The project is among the Haryana government’s key priorities, and our objective is to provide modern and improved public transport facilities to Gurugram as the city continues to expand," Singh said, adding that work would speed up, with quality and safety standards a priority. He called it "an important step towards better connectivity for Gurugram’s future."
Each girder, made at a precast casting yard in Sector 33, Naharpar Rupa, Gurugram, is approximately 28 metres long and 5.05 metres wide, with around 16 tonnes of reinforcement steel and approximately 60 cubic metres of M-60 grade concrete. Pre-tensioned, they form the viaduct’s upper structure for later track laying. Officials said the first was placed to prescribed technical standards and safety protocols, letting further work follow schedule.
A multi-axle trailer and puller assembly of around 40 metres carries them; size and weight demand route planning, traffic management and safety arrangements.
