News: MCG Waste Processing Tender Fails Again; New Bid Planned-27-08-2026
The Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) will float yet another tender for processing fresh waste after rate negotiations with shortlisted bidders in the previous round proved inconclusive, officials said.
MCG commissioner Pradeep Dahiya told HT that three bidders took part, of which one did not meet the technical criteria. The remaining two quoted more than the corporation had budgeted, so the tender could not be finalised.
The tender has been floated four times this year. After the first attempt drew no bids, the rate was raised from Rs 240 per ton to Rs 450 per ton, HT reported on May 26. Officials said the two agencies in the latest round quoted Rs 700 per ton and Rs 1,300 per ton.
The National Green Tribunal (NGT) has directed MCG to stop dumping fresh waste at the Bandhwari landfill and clear legacy waste, and earlier this week again sought a clear timeline for bridging the gap between waste generation and treatment.
HT reported on August 20 that Bandhwari faces a 710K metric ton backlog even after the current legacy waste-processing contracts end in March 2027.
Officials said an alternative site for fresh waste has been identified but will be used only once an agency is finalised and processing facilities are set up.
