News: Fallen Trees, Feeder Faults Cut Power in Gurugram-25-08-2026
Monday’s heavy rain knocked out electricity in many parts of Gurugram, with officials and residents blaming uprooted trees, short circuits and faults in feeders and substations.
Affected areas included Imperia Esfera and RMG residency in Sector-37 and Sector-10, societies along Dwarka Motorway and in Sectors-69, 70 and 71, colonies in Old Gurugram and DLF Phases I, II and III.
Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam Limited (DHBVN) officials said Imperia Esfera had faced cuts for three days because of a fault in its internal supply infrastructure. A senior official said a metering panel installed by the realtor was to blame, forcing residents to run a diesel genset every night, and cited a lack of coordination between the RWA and the realty firm. A maintenance team member, requesting anonymity, expected the fault to be fixed by Tuesday.
Resident Rinki Singh said the firm had not yet handed over all responsibilities to the RWA and was refusing to bear the cost. Fuses had blown seven to nine times in three days, she said, and at least 400 families were affected.
At RMG residency, a tree fell on the 11kV overhead feeder, cutting supply for at least six hours. Resident Amod Kumar said power went off around 11.30am and returned by 5.30pm. Kadipur enclave in Sector 10 suffered a similar outage.
A fault at the 66kV substation in Sector-9 hit Pareena Coban, Pareena Laxmi and several Sector-99 societies for several hours.
In DLF Phase I and II, restoration after trees fell on lines took at least four to five hours, officials said. Later at night, DLF Phase-III’s T-block lost power when a feeder linked to the 66kV Q-block substation broke down.
