News: Gurugram Metro Phase 2 Rs 1,400-Crore Tender Awaits State Nod-24-08-2026
Gurugram Metro Rail Limited (GMRL) has sent the Rs 1,400 crore tender for civil construction under Phase 2 of the Gurugram Metro to the Haryana government for approval, officials said. The tender was approved by the World Bank in June and vetted by GMRL and Haryana Mass Rapid Transport Corporation Limited (HMRTC). A GMRL official expected approval soon.
It covers construction of track and stations, and excludes signalling, electrical and design works. Officials said GMRL has also approached a German development bank for additional funding, as the project’s estimated cost has risen to more than Rs 10,000 crore from Rs 5,452 crore.
The 13km second phase will have 14 stations, running from Sector 7 through Palam Vihar and Udyog Vihar to Cyber City, including one on the spur towards Gurugram railway station. It will interchange with the Rapid Metro and the Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS).
