News: DLF Phase 1, 2 Residents Turn to Tankers for Water-24-08-2026
Residents of DLF Phase 1 and Phase 2 say disrupted supply and low water pressure for more than five days have forced them to rely on private tankers and packaged drinking water.
They said pressure has been low since Wednesday, making it hard to fill overhead tanks, particularly in homes without underground storage. Rajeev Bajaj of DLF Phase 1 said tanker prices have risen to Rs 2,500 to Rs 3,000 on high demand, and that the civic agency has given no clear information on when supply will be restored. Nalini Kalra Wadhawan of E-block said the first three days were manageable, after which she spent Rs 2,500 on a tanker.
A Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) official attributed the disruption to a leakage in the main pipeline from the Basai Water Treatment Plant, which affected major areas. Officials said it was detected on Thursday morning and repaired by Thursday night.
GMDA spokesperson Neha Sharma told HT that supply towards DLF has significantly improved and has been restored at full capacity to all connections, with coordination continuing with the DLF team.
Separately, supply in several parts of the city was hit on Saturday after a pipeline near Baani Square was damaged during unidentified excavation work. Officials expected it to be fixed by Sunday night.
