News: Pipeline Damaged Near Baani Square, Gurugram Water Hit-23-08-2026
A Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) water pipeline near Baani Square, a commercial complex in Sector 50, was damaged during unidentified excavation work, the authority said in an advisory on Saturday. Supply is likely to be affected in sectors 46, 48, 49, 50, 52, 56, 57 and 58 to 76.
GMDA asked residents of these sectors to use water judiciously and only for essential needs until repairs are done. It did not specify how long the disruption would last or when repairs would be completed, saying updates would be shared as work progresses. Officials said households and other establishments that depend on the bulk supply network are likely to be affected.
Residents were critical. Sumit Singh of Sector 52 questioned the absence of a repair timeline and asked how excavation could take place without the authorities’ knowledge. Garima Yadav of Sector 48 asked why neither GMDA nor the police intervened, and said residents always bear the brunt of negligence.
