News: Haryana Plans AI-Enabled Health Overhaul, Gap Report 2027-20-08-2026
Haryana’s health department expects to set up a project management unit (PMU) in September to bring technology-enabled, AI-backed solutions to sub-centres, primary health centres, district hospitals, medical colleges and AYUSH institutions, officials said on Wednesday. A Rs 3 crore tender from July seeks a "strategic advisor" for senior officials; bidding continues and technical evaluation was extended to August 24.
A Health Transformation Office (HTO) in Panchkula will assess public and private facilities against National Quality Assurance Standards (NQAS) and deliver a gap analysis by February 2027. A senior official said a health innovation assessment framework and action plan using generative AI, advanced analytics and predictive modelling will follow, under Haryana’s Health Vision for 2047. It will review telemedicine and digital health efforts too, including Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM)-enabled systems, public health platforms, apps and dashboards. The request for proposal anticipates an integrated health data platform in 2027.
Eight consultant experts will draw up a roadmap to cut hospital accessibility gaps by end-2027, the official said, though the tender names neither those gaps nor how AI success will be measured.
Haryana’s e-Upchaar Health Management Information System (HMIS) already runs in 22 district civil hospitals, three medical colleges, one Ayurvedic hospital, seven Community Health Centres (CHC) and 10 Primary Health Centres (PHC). In July Faridabad overtook Gurugram in ABHA registrations, 1.37 million to 1.32 million between September 2021 and June 2026, a measure of adoption rather than care use or outcomes.
