News: Rs 8 Crore Set Aside to Upgrade Sewers in Dundahera, Tigra-17-08-2026
The Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) plans to augment the sewer network in Dundahera, Sarhol, Pratap Nagar and Tigra, where residents face recurring sewage overflows and inadequate infrastructure.
Vijay Dhaka, chief engineer, MCG, said capacity will be increased and new lines laid. The F&CC has approved the budget and at least Rs 8 crore has been allocated, he said. Other parts of the city needing upgrades will also be reviewed.
Dundahera residents have complained repeatedly of sewage spilling onto internal roads. Rajesh Gera, president of the RWA in Surya Vihar, said the overflow troubles pedestrians, including children and the elderly, and raises hygiene concerns. Residents said sewage also flows towards unauthorised garbage points near auto-rickshaw stands.
In Sarhol, residents said the existing network cannot cope with a growing population and rising wastewater, leading to waterlogging during heavy rain.
Kamal Kumar, a resident, said sewage collects on roads and lanes whenever lines choke or it rains heavily and stays for days. He wanted a permanent solution instead of temporary cleaning.
