News: Two Sector 9, 10 Foot Overbridges to Make Way for Metro-16-08-2026
Gurugram’s development authority (GMDA) has let Gurugram Metro Rail Limited (GMRL) remove two foot overbridges (FOBs) on its alignment, officials said. They stand by Alpine Public School in Sector 9 and Greenwood Public School in Sector 10 near Basai Pond, where a station is coming up between Umang Bhardwaj Chowk and Basai Flyover.
GMRL’s June letter called the FOBs "infringing" and sought early removal. A GMDA communique of August 12 requires it to build and commission 02 replacement FOBs on the same corridor, at GMDA-approved sites, at its own cost and expense. A GMDA official said GMRL also pays for dismantling and handles storage and transport of the material, with no financial implication for GMDA.
Built in 2023 as part of a Rs 114-crore project (widening, a flyover and a rail bridge over the Delhi-Rewari line), they served pedestrians from Sectors 37C, 37D, 9, 9A and 10.
GMRL is building a 30 km loop from Millennium City Centre Station to Cyber Hub; phase one reaches Sector 9, with a separate Dwarka Expressway spur.
