News: MCG Reviews Sanitation, Monsoon Response and Civic Works-13-08-2026
Sanitation, monsoon preparedness and infrastructure development were reviewed by the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) on Thursday at a meeting chaired by mayor Raj Rani Malhotra. MCG commissioner Pradeep Dahiya, senior officials and councillors attended.
Malhotra said civic infrastructure must keep evolving in a fast-growing city and called for better coordination among the administration, elected representatives and citizens.
Officials said the new door-to-door waste collection contract, now in process, will deploy around 854 vehicles and cover household collection, transport and delivery to processing plants.
On the monsoon, officials said water receded faster in several areas this year than last season, which they credited to drainage improvements, pond revival and rainwater harvesting projects taken up over the past year.
SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) systems are being installed at water boosting stations for technology-based monitoring, and the corporation is working towards 24x7 drinking water supply in phases. Sewerage lines, water networks, stormwater drains, roads, footpaths and other public assets are also being digitally mapped to identify gaps and speed up resolution of civic issues.
Dahiya said technology-driven initiatives would make municipal services smarter, more transparent and more efficient.
