News: Rs 197-Crore Sewage Plant and Pumping Station for Sector 107-07-08-2026
The Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) will build a 100 million litres per day (MLD) sewage treatment plant and a 400 MLD main pumping station in Sector 107 to stop untreated sewage reaching the Yamuna through the Najafgarh drain, officials said on Friday.
The Rs 197 crore project will come up on 49 acres that GMDA officials said was bought from the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG). The tender has been floated and is likely to be awarded in the next three months.
Vibhor Doohan, executive engineer of GMDA, said the plant will treat sewage from sectors 81 to 115, use SBR technology and take about 1.5 years once work starts. Officials said the contractor will use compressed natural gas generated at the plant to produce a minimum of 6,500 units of power daily to run it. Recycled water will go into the leg two storm water drain.
Gurugram’s installed capacity is 433 MLD: 170 MLD at Behrampur, 218 MLD at Dhanwapur, 20 MLD at Jahajgarh and 25 MLD at IMT Manesar. GMDA CEO PC Meena had earlier said four new STPs would add 340 MLD, taking the total to 773 MLD.
