News: Ghata Stretch Shut After Rain; Gurugram Traffic Crawls-07-08-2026
Traffic delays persisted across Gurugram on Friday, worsened by the temporary closure of the Ghata Power House-Ghata T point stretch, which was damaged by torrential rain and waterlogging. Police announced the closure on Thursday night and advised alternate routes.
Gurugram traffic police spokesperson Vikas Verma said the pothole-ridden stretch was shut for public safety. Over 100 personnel are on the ground and police are coordinating with civic agencies on waterlogging, he said.
On Friday morning, traffic was slow on Golf Course Road between Sector 54 Chowk and Ghata, and on Golf Course Extension Road between Badshahpur and Vatika Chowk, with delays spilling towards Sector 66 and Sector 69. Queues formed on Sohna Road between Subhash Chowk and Rajiv Chowk, and the Southern Peripheral Road was slow near Vatika Chowk and the Cloverleaf interchange. Delays were also reported near the Bajghera underpass, flooded on Thursday.
Gurugram received 117mm of rain on Thursday. The downpour stranded hundreds of vehicles, claimed three lives in Gurugram and Faridabad, and prompted a work-from-home advisory for corporates.
