News: Table Tops, Surface Drains Planned for Bajghera Underpass-06-08-2026
GMDA, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and the Public Works Department (PWD) have agreed on a joint plan for a permanent fix to waterlogging at the Bajghera underpass on the Dwarka Expressway, the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority said on Wednesday.
The agencies met after heavy rain on Tuesday evening flooded the underpass and forced its closure. A GMDA spokesperson said work was divided so it can be done before the next heavy spell.
GMDA CEO PC Meena said NHAI will build table tops on the approach roads to regulate stormwater flowing towards the underpass, and will inspect and, where needed, repair or upgrade the sump wells and pumps. PWD (Building and Roads department) will construct surface drains along Bajghera Road, connected to GMDA’s Leg-1 master drain for quicker discharge.
After a joint inspection on Wednesday, GMDA executive engineer Vikram Singh said a super sucker machine is desilting about 300 metres of the Leg one drain to prevent overflow.
