News: Gurugram Garbage Trucks Linked to GMDA Command Centre-31-07-2026
Gurugram’s garbage dumping vehicles have been integrated with the integrated command and control centre (ICCC), allowing them to be monitored in real time through the city’s CCTV network, the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) said on Friday.
Officials said the registration numbers of all 31 vehicles that carry municipal solid waste to the landfill have been mapped on the ICCC platform, which should improve efficiency and accountability in sanitation services.
GMDA chief executive officer PC Meena said the system would help identify littering or improper disposal during transit, as offending vehicles can be traced.
GMDA is also working with traffic police on AI-enabled enforcement of lane driving through existing cameras. Violators will receive challans at their home addresses, officials said. A spokesperson said heavy vehicles with valid permits will be recognised automatically and exempted, while those without permission will be flagged.
